The Founders

At the age of sixteen, Curtis Conerly began his career in the construction industry. He started as a laborer for a residential builder learning both interior and exterior carpentry. As the years progressed he worked as a roofer, carpenter, siding installer, cable installer and a kitchen and bath remodeler. Curtis’ knowledge expands to A/C repair, universal design, and kitchen and bath design. In 1992 Curtis started his own home renovation business, specializing in home repairs and home remodeling. Curtis is a licensed Louisiana Remodeler with CAPS certification. He is a member of the St. Tammany Parish Home Builders Association and was elected to the Board of Directors of the HBA in 2011.

Although successful in his chosen profession, Curtis felt that God was calling him to help others. Identifying with 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”; the call to use his gift and knowledge of home repairs and home renovation to help others in need weighed heavily upon him.

Joining with other ministries, like Eight Days of Hope who also minister the love of Jesus by rebuilding homes and lives, Curtis and Belinda have assisted in constructing storage buildings, replacing windows, building decks, sheetrock finishing, siding repairs, and a wide variety of other construction duties.

The Conerlys have found that ministry opportunities abound when you show the love of Jesus by helping those who cannot help themselves. Rebuilding homes is only half of the mission. Being privileged to minister to the family members of those homes fulfills the mission to help rebuild lives. On one of their trips an opportunity to speak to a gentleman about his marriage, to a young lady about returning to church and Christ, to a lady about the death of her daughter and grandchild and several others brought hope to hopeless situations. The bible states that God’s word will not return void, all we have to do is share it with others.

Curtis and Belinda Conerly founded Building On A Rock Ministries to do just that!
